Mary Elizabeth Mitchell

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William "Bill" Mitchell, and her son, Brad Mitchell.

She is survived by her daughters, Lori Parks (Tommy) and Lisa McPherson (Mike); her grandchildren, Kyle Parks, Cameron

McPherson (Ellee), Ryan McPherson (Laurel Beth), Kathleen McPherson; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Finn, Rome, and Max.

A faithful member of Brentwood United Methodist Church, Mary lived a life centered on faith, family, and caring for others. She had an extraordinary gift for making people feel seen and loved.

Whether she was calling to check on a friend, offering encouragement, or quietly supporting countless organizations through charitable donation, Mary was always thinking of someone besides herself.

She was known for her radiant smile and magnetic personality. Throughout her living community, she was a familiar face whose kindness brightened hallways and whose genuine interest in others made lasting friendships. Many who knew her affectionately described her as an angel, a reflection of the compassion and grace she extended to everyone she met.

Mary found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and the love she poured into each generation only grew stronger with time. One of the family's most treasured traditions was hearing Mary sing gentle lullabies. Those songs became lasting memories of unconditional love and comfort that will continue to echo through generations.

Married for 69 years, Mary said her vows to William “Bill” Mitchell on December 13th, 1952 in North Lawrence, Ohio. Even after his passing in 2021, she carried his memory with her to the end.

Mary's legacy is one of gentleness, generosity, unwavering love, and selfless service. She taught her family that the greatest gifts are often the simplest: a phone call to check in, a handwritten card, a comforting song, a warm smile, or a listening ear. Her quiet faith in the Lord gave her strength and gratitude throughout her life, and she rejoiced in the many blessings God had given her. Her influence will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched through her kindness.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the residents and staff of Harmony at Brentwood for the love, friendship, and care they shared with Mary. The community she found there was a true gift, not only to her, but to her entire family. The meaningful friendships she formed brought her renewed joy and purpose, and they will always be grateful for the kindness and companionship that enriched her final years.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Celebration of life will take place at Brentwood United Methodist Church on Friday, August 14th. Visitation will start at 10:00am with a funeral service to follow at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations may be made to the Nashville Rescue Mission in Mary's honor. Your generosity will help continue their mission of providing support to those in need.
