Paul was born in Chattanooga, TN to Sarah Frances Ann Dyer and Bryan Edward Dyer, Sr. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bryan Edward Dyer, Jr. (Velda). He is survived by his sister, Judy Squitieri and brother, Kenneth Dyer, Sr (Joni). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Paul was never able to speak words, however, you could always tell how he was feeling, good or bad, by his actions. He was quick to offer a handshake or if he was humming you knew he was content. No one wanted the waving hand pointed at them, which was his way of showing that he was not agreeable.
He had several hobbies, but his favorite was books of all kinds. He looked forward to TV Guides each week and enjoyed books on westerns, Elvis, Lawrence Welk and history. He was known for pointing out presidents from cards that were laid in front of him.
Paul lived in a group home for over 40 years and made an extended family and friends with other clients and caregivers while there. He was shown such love and care by everyone, whether current or in the past. It was there he was given the nickname “Grandaddy”.
Visitation will be held at the home of Kenneth Dyer, 483 Page Drive, Mount Juliet, TN 37122, on Sunday, October 19th between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Paul to a charity of your choice.
