Robert Campbell Stevens II, known lovingly as Rob, was born on March 13, 1942, in Lebanon, Indiana, and passed from this life in Franklin, Tennessee, after a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease. He was a Christian man whose days upon this earth were marked by generosity, intelligence, and a keen, analytical mind, and he walked among family and friends with a quiet strength that was both steady and gracious. Though his earthly course has ended, we trust in the mercy of God, who numbers every hair and keeps His children in everlasting care.
Rob was the beloved son of a family rooted in Indiana, and he carried those ties with him throughout his life. He is survived by his son and only child, Nicholas P. Stevens of Nashville, Tennessee; his brother, Ronald G. Stevens of Noblesville, Indiana; his sister, Kyle Kincaid of Lebanon, Indiana; his nephew, Kraig Kincaid (Kelli) of Noblesville, Indiana; his nieces, Niki Guetersloh (Garrett) of Creal Springs, Illinois, and Katelyn Gibson (Matt), Noblesville, IN; devoted friend and caregiver, Karen Brown, Brentwood, TN, as well as several great nephews and nieces, and many others who knew the warmth of his presence. He was preceded in life by his father, Robert C. Stevens, II and his mother, Lorraine Wolfington Stevens McCormick as well as infant brother Richard Stevens, and step-father, Keith McCormick In every relationship he was known for his steadiness, his wit, and his uncommon kindness.
He received his BA and MBA from Indiana University and remained a loyal life-long supporter. From that foundation he built a distinguished career with Eli Lilly and Company. For more than thirty-three years, he served in several positions both stateside and abroad until he found his niche as a Pharmaceutical Sales Manager. He served with diligence, professionalism, and a thoughtful spirit. Rob loved and cherished the relationships formed during his career with Eli Lilly and Company. His work was not merely a means of labor, but a vocation in which he used his gifts well. He was respected for his judgment and trusted for his integrity, and those who labored beside him knew him as a man who listened carefully, spoke wisely, and carried himself with uncommon composure. Prior to his career with Eli Lilly and Company, Rob briefly was in the Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged for medical reasons.
Rob’s life was also richly adorned by the joys of sport and the pleasures of active living. He was a devoted sports enthusiast, and he loved football above all, especially at the college level. Yet his appreciation extended beyond the gridiron, for he delighted in many games and athletic pursuits. As an amateur, he played racquetball, tennis, volleyball (even forming volley ball tournaments with his Lilly sales force) golf, basketball, and even a little baseball. He was an excellent water skier and swimmer, and he loved being in or near the water, where he seemed to find both peace and delight. He traveled on many wonderful vacations, gathering memories that shone brightly in his heart, and he remained a faithful watcher of sports on the screen, as recently as six months ago. His enthusiasm was lively, his spirit competitive, and his joy in the contest of life was evident to all who knew him.
One of the tender beauties of Rob’s story was that he became a parent later in life, and he chose to retire early so that he could be with his son as much as possible. That decision revealed the depth of his love, for he valued time, presence, and shared life above worldly ambition. He travelled with his son on many grand vacations. While Rob was a devout Indianapolis 500 fan, when his son became enamored with NASCAR Racing, he embraced this interest and took him to several races and watched more races on the screen together. With fatherhood devotion and purpose, he sought to be near his son in all the ordinary and extraordinary moments that make a life rich. Such love is a sacred thing, and it stands as a lasting testimony to the man he was.
May Rob be remembered with gratitude for the good he did, the love he shared, and the faithful life he lived. May those who mourn him be comforted by the promises of Scripture and by the enduring light of his memory. And may his soul rest in the peace of Christ, where sorrow is no more and joy is made complete.
A visitation for Robert will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 9010 Church St. E., Brentwood, TN 37027. A celebration of life service will follow visitation beginning at 3:00pm.
