

Sujette Baker Overstreet passed away peacefully at her home at 5204 Meadowlake Road, on Tuesday afternoon, November 21, 2023, in Brentwood. Sujette was the daughter of Morris Allen Baker and Margaret White Baker. She was born September 26, 1953, and spent her life in Nashville before moving to Brentwood in 1987.
She was married for 36 years to her husband, Jim Overstreet, of Nashville. She resided on Meadowlake Road in Brentwood for 36 years. Sujette attended the University of Tennessee Martin for her undergraduate degree in Education. She received her master's degree at Peabody College at Vanderbilt and her +30 hours at Middle Tennessee State University. She worked 30 years for the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, teaching Pre-k and kindergarten. She loved her students and their parents. After teaching for 18 years in the classroom, she became a Home School Coordinator, making many visits to the parents of the school to help them become better teachers at home.
Sujette loved the beach where she spent countless hours reading novels, primarily written by Scott Peck and John Grisham. She especially loved to walk the roads in Meadowlake. For many years she would wake up at 4:30 a.m. to swim at the YMCA pool. She had an intense love for all animals but especially for her cats at home.
Sujette had a deep love for Jesus and allowed him to guide her life since she was very young. Many decisions in her life were guided by that strong faith in Him. Jim and Sujette attended several churches in their 41 years together, including Belmont Church, Hope Park Church, and Cross Point Church in West Nashville.
Sujette is survived by her husband Jim Overstreet of Brentwood; daughter Sarah Lindsey Overstreet of Franklin, granddaughters Kayla Stephens, Madeline Stephens, Ansley Stephens and Kadence Stephens and grandson Elijah Stephens. She is also survived by her uncle, John W Baker, and her aunt Margaret Baker. In addition, Sujette is also survived by several cousins; Gay Hall of Brentwood, Tina Cole, and Johnna Lynn Baker, both of Franklin and Leigh Ann Griffth of Brandon, Mississippi.
Brentwood- Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 9010 Church St E, Brentwood, TN will be handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2 p.m.-4 p.m. The service will follow at 4:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
