

DUNCAN, Thomas Francis - born on the 7th of May 1939 to the late N.L. Duncan and Lavergne Ellen Palmer Duncan in Cherry Valley, Arkansas and passed away on the 5th of May 2013 at his home in Brentwood, TN. In his youth, he graduated from Vandale High School and went on and received his formal education from Southeastern University. His occupational career over the years spanned from his military service as a Tech Sergeant in the USAF to his service in the US Army Reserve as a Sergeant Major, to the 30+ years of service with the Federal Gov't as a HUD Monitoring Representative. After retirement, he founded Quality Mortgage Services, LLC out of Brentwood, TN. His drive and passion to succeed allowed him the opportunity to be involved in various community associations such as Area Gov. of Toastmasters Int'l, Member of Mortgage Bankers Association, and Director of Public Relations and 3rd VP of the State of TN for the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. His passion was making the most out of his life and investing in others to do the same. He was actively involved in his church community for over 45 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Larry J. Duncan and James Barry Duncan. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Bryan Duncan; son, Tommy (Claudia) Duncan; daughter, Rebecca (Crispin) Bennett; seven grandchildren, Anthony Duncan, Hanna Duncan, Eric Duncan, Channing Bennett, Cayce Bennett, Candyce Bennett, Camiel Bennett; one great-grandchild, Malakhi Bennett; brothers, Gerald Duncan, Gary Duncan, Dr. Stephen Duncan and David Duncan; and sister, Deloris Williams Hale. A Celebration of Life service will be held this evening, the 7th of May 2013 at seven o'clock in the Chapel at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with Rev. Rucker Chunn, Pastor Charles Fritts, and Dr. Dan Walker officiating. Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family for one hour of visitation prior to the service. Interment will take place with the family on Wednesday morning at nine o'clock at Middle TN State Veterans Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of customary remembrances that memorial contributions made in Tom's honor be directed to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
