I was fortunate enough to have Mr. Higgins when it was his first class at South College. You could tell that he was more reserved and hesitant to talk, at first. But when you got Mr. Higgins talking, boy was he thrilled! Mr. Higgins was SO PASSIONATE about what he did, he would just get a look on his face that could clearly state how much joy he received from providing education. It was like a little kid Christmas morning. Our time spent with Mr. Higgins was always a pleasure...

One very fond memory that I have with Mr. Higgins was my pharm lab check off. I was SO nervous and SO shaky when pulling up meds and I had told him I was and he calmed me down and said: "Don't worry its normal, I get like that too." This simple statement took much pressure off of me. Then in the middle of the check off, I was setting up an IV pump while I bolused a trash can (For those of you who don't know, I was running my IV rapidly into a trash can on the floor). Speaking honestly, this is probably a check off that I shouldn't have passed but Mr. Higgins knew that I understood my medication administration, he had seen me before and recognized that it was just my nerves taking over. I am beyond blessed to have had a teacher like this. He will forever be missed!

Aaron was so fun to have around at work. His quiet, yet humorous self kept me laughing and entertained. We all miss him so much and think/talk about him daily. I miss his big brother jokes, his smart remarks, and his knowledge of the nursing field. He is truly and deeply missed.

Mr. Higgins was my absolute favorite professor. He was an absolutely amazing person and it hurts me that he is gone. But, through this loss I see how blessed I was to have ever met him. You're memory will never be forgotten with me. You encouraged me to keep pushing forward and do it with all that I am. You are so missed. And I pray that the lord be with all of your friends and loved ones. God bless the higgins family. Thank you Mr. Higgins for EVERYTHING! You are severely missed.

I have too many wonderful memories to even know where to begin. I just want you to know that I love you more than you will ever know . You were the best big brother a little girl could have. I miss you terribly already. Thank you for all the laughs you created, knowledge shared and hard times you gave me that made me who I am today. You were the smartest and funniest guy I have ever known. I see a wonderful different piece of you in Wilder, Barker and Ledger. You have no idea how much you meant to so many. I love and miss you so much big brother. Until we meet again. God Bless!

I only got to know Mr Higgins for a short while, but he definitely left an impression. In front of a crowd he was kind of shy, but in small groups you really got to see his personality bloom! He was super witty and loved to crack smart ass jokes! Most of all he really cared about his students. Three separate times he sat with me and some classmates for hours at a time outside of the classroom to make sure we knew the material. That kind of compassion and dedication is rare these days. He will definitely be missed!

Words can’t express just how sorry I am. I’m unable to form complete sentences with this news. Professor Higgins helped me with pre exam study sessions and was there to answer every email. I’m 1000% certain it’s because of his help I passed his class after bombing my first exam. I am beyond appreciative of the dedication he had for all of his students to help us. I only knew him a few short weeks but he was an incredible teacher to us all and I’ll forever be grateful.
