

Vernon Morris Williams, Jr. age 78 of Nashville, a retired General Contractor, passed away the evening of Tuesday, April 20, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon M. Williams, Sr. and Edith Adler Williams. Mr. Williams is survived by his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 56 years, Kay Ogilvie Williams; daughter, Kathy (Joe) Ennis; sons Vernon M. “Chip” Williams, III (Jo) and Jeff (Kristy) Williams; grandchildren Kristen (Brian) Rutledge and Joseph Ennis. He is also survived by his sister, Pat (Jim) Charron; three nephews, James Charron, John Charron, Andy Charron and their families. Mr. Williams was an alumnus of Montgomery Bell Academy and graduated from West End High School. He served his country in the United States Army, during the Korean War. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner, a Past Captain of the Al Menah Shrine Temple Patrol Unit, a former member of the Jesters, a York Rite Mason and a member of American Legion Post 88 and Chef de Gare Passe of La Societe Des Querente Hommes et Huit Chevaux (40 & 8). He was an avid duck hunter and spent many happy hours on Reelfoot Lake. His family was his pride and joy. The family would like to thank Dr. Bruce Hollinger, special caregiver, Johnnie Stockdale and Willowbrook Hospice for their compassion and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made, as per his request, to Monroe Street United Methodist Church, 700 Monroe St., Nashville, TN 37208. Graveside services will be the afternoon of Friday, April 23, 2010 at 1 o’clock at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, with Military Honors. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4 o’clock until 7 o’clock and Friday morning from 10 o’clock until 12 noon at Brentwood Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 9010 Church Street East, Brentwood, TN 37027, 615-373-3040.
