December 4, 1935February 16, 2019

The Rev. William Carson Fraser Sr. of Nashville, passed on February 16, 2019. Born December 4, 1935 in Nashville to William C. “Bill” Fraser and Margaret Cathey Fraser, Carson grew up in Columbia, TN where he was active in all phases of church life as a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. He graduated from Central High School excelling in academics, band, and football, ultimately being selected All-State. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Carson was a member of the Volunteer football team, president of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and a leader of Tyson House Episcopal Student Center. With his wife, Peggy Sue Beene Fraser by his side, Carson received a master’s degree from Berkeley Divinity School in New Haven, CT. Later returning to the Diocese of Tennessee, he served out his active ministry throughout the state. After a long marriage, his ministry became the devotion and care he gave during Peggy's illness. Carson was blessed to find love again with a friend for most of his life, his wife Mary Carl Roberts by whom he is survived. Carson and Mary Carl loved, laughed, comforted, and cared for each other for the final ten years of his life. Carson is survived by his children Elizabeth Fraser O’Connell (Tom), Susan Fraser, William Carson Fraser Jr. (Kim), 17 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He continued to support the Vols with his sisters, Dianne Goodgame (Gordon) and Pat Turner (Harry), in Neyland Stadium for the last 60 years. A celebration of Carson’s life will be held at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Nashville on Saturday, February 23. Visitation will begin at twelve followed by a service at two o’clock. Carson's life was one lived in love. His boisterous personality paired with his booming voice and infectious humor often made him the life of the party. His caring nature came through in his personal attention to one’s needs as well as his involvement in many civic and charitable organizations. He can be honored by loving another in his spirit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. David’s Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice in Carson’s memory. Visit the online obituary: www.brentwoodroeschpattonfuneralhome.com
