William (Bill) Greenfield was born on November 8, 1944 in Nashville, TN to Dr. William R. and Rexye A. Greenfield. He was educated in the Nashville Public Schools graduating in 1962 from Pearl High School. William attended Tennessee State University and after serving four years in the Air Force and briefly as a Naval reservist, attended Knoxville College, Knoxville, TN.
As a young adult, he spent time in Dothan, Alabama working in his father's record shop and night club businesses before ultimately returning to Nashville and settling into a 40-year career in sales and counseling. The early focuses of his counseling tenure were incarcerated juveniles, substance abuse victims and Middle Tennessee's disenfranchised veteran community. The latter portion has been with the Christian Broadcasting Network praying daily for persons all over the world seeking comfort and direction in their times of personal trial.
Counseling was one of his true passions, rivaled only by his affinity for reading, insatiable consumptions of professional basketball and his favorite foods, and of course the love and adoration of Carsella, his wife of 12 years.
He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church and has held fellowship with several other congregations in Nashville, including Clark Memorial United Methodist Church. He will be remembered for his kind manner, positive approach to life, room-filling laughter, and witty sense off humor.
William passed away peacefully on September, 3 2017 in Nashville, TN at the age of 72 after a brief illness. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carsella Greenfield, children Michael Yarbrough (Angie), Teresa Greenfield-Strachan, and Jason Greenfield (Cassandra), step-children Kimberly Drake and Stephen Reed (Dana), brother Dr. William W. Greenfield (Tiffany), and step-sisters Theolyn Miller and Mae Shorter (William).
Other survivors include 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, friends and co-workers.
