William Hoyt Lance
September 1, 1935 – December 30, 2020
William (Bill) Hoyt Lance born September 1, 1935 to Charlie M. Lance and Bessie (Collins) Lance in Blue Ridge, Georgia. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Lance and Ray Lance; and sister, Imojean Stalcup. Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Emma Lee (Redmond) Lance; son, Ronald William Lance (Kelly) of Dayton, Ohio; and grandchildren, Jordan R. Lance and Sydney R. Lance.
Bill owned and managed Lance’s Shell Station in Akron, Ohio for over 50 years with his brother and friend, Jerry Lance who passed in 1978. As a young man Bill enlisted in the Army and served at Fort Knox as a Tank Commander/First Lieutenant. He is also received the promotion and rank of Dad to son Ron, during his time at Fort Knox. While in Akron, he was actively involved in his church (Akron Baptist Team) where he and Emma Lee taught Sunday school for over 25 years. He was also an active member in his Masonic and Shriners Lodge.
After moving to Nashville he started a new career in Real Estate and became a successful business partner within the community, with many families, representing Bob Parkes Realty. His reputation for honesty, integrity, a firm handshake that meant you were loved respected and commitment was what he was known for. He was also known to show up as Santa for families in need and at business parties for families and friends. Bill’s love for his family, especially his granddaughters were at the top of the list for the things he enjoyed most in life…along with the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, and playing in the soil growing tomato’s and veggies. While brilliant and talented in so many ways, it didn’t take much to make him happy. He enjoyed the old ways and a simple life.
Bill will always be remembered as a gentle giant whose kind and generous heart paved the way for every encounter with him to be memorable knowing that he was loved and respected. When he shook the hand of his Savior as he took a knee, there is no question, he heard these words; “Well done thy good and faithful servant” Matthew 25:21
A Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date. Until then, if you knew him and loved him, lift up a prayer of thanks and blessing for the way he blessed and loved you.

My deepest sympathy to you all. What a great and kind man he was. I not only had the privilege of knowing him from ABT but he came into Kripsy Kreme donut shop before heading to the gas station. He always had a big smile on his face and kind words to say. He will be missed but I also know he is smiling in heaven with his Savior, family and friends. Love and prayers to you all.

Our deepest condolences to Emma Lee , Ron and family. Bill was as the obituary states "a gentle giant". Though I only knew him through Emma Lee at our Gum Dipper Reunions and when they visited Florida I welcomed my conversations with him. Rest In Peace. Chris and Richard Mucciolo

Emily and The Lance Family: Bill holds in my heart an extremely special place. It was under his Sunday School teaching that I came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ at the age of 11 years old. I always held Bill in the highest esteem. I want to offer you my deepest condolences.
Please know that your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May God comfort you today and in the days ahead.

I have such fond memories of Bill from ABT--- always the gentleman with kind words to say- and always so handsome and dressed so nice. We know where he is, but he will be missed dearly by his family. May you find comfort in the days ahead.
