William "Bill" Douglas Zartman was the eldest child of William E. and Betty J. Zartman of Malvern, OH. He was a big brother with a little brother sense of humor that never left; fart jokes were his specialty. In his younger years, he excelled in sports (football, basketball, and baseball.) He carried the discipline, leadership, and drive he learned on the field to his professional life as a sales executive. Even as a retiree with a part-time job at the Williamson County Indoor Sports Complex, he treated the position and people with the same level of integrity and respect as he did his previous VP role because there are no small games. Loyalty, care, and love didn't need to be taught; his life-long friends prove that those qualities made up Bill's core from the beginning. As a husband, father, and grandfather, he was devoted, supportive, sometimes stern--always stubborn, and deeply committed.

Bill is survived by his wife Debbie, daughter Lauren, grandson Kale, and two sisters Vicki and Michelle.

Debbie and family,
Last night I was informed about the tragic passing away of Bill.. The remorse and complete sadness I feel is unexplainable yet I am sure it does not compare to the feelings that you and the Zartman family will have the rest of your lives. Bill was a kind , good man , a wonderful brother of Lambda Chi Alpha and a person all called friend.
I viewed the video and looked at all of the pictures a few times. There is one of Bill in Florida in the mid 70's and in the picture with Bill is Tim Welsh who would be my big brother . I was so fortunate to have Bill as my little brother ,to have enjoyed his company not just in Florida but throughout our college and Lambda Chi Alpha experience.
Ironically , yesterday morning I was speaking to my wife about Bill and hoping we could get together ,maybe see each other at the Akron Lambda Chi Alpha 100th anniversary which is next month.
He will be missed by all at the celebration but forgotten by no one.
My deepest sympathy and thoughts are with you,
Duane L. Cretin

I knew Bill for well over 30 years as one of the best persons that I ever meet in the aluminum industry. I worked at the Revere Newport Rolling plant in the
Arkansas plant and then moved on the Revere Packaging plant in Shelbyville, KY. Most of Bill’s direct reports along with Bill were like family to me. He still called me Johnny every time we met and his friendship and compassion for the business and caring for everyone he met made him a special person, someone you were always glad to have visit. Unfortunately in the last few years we have lost those icons of that time; Glen Prim, Steve Safrit, and now Bill. I will always feel blessed by knowing them all and making a tough industry a great place to work. I know Bill loved his family first, but his business family just as much. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. God took another great man home, but his legacy will live on!

God Bless all!

Praying for Bill's family during this difficult time. I am a friend of Mike and Vicki, and so very blessed to be their friend. I did not know Bill personally, but with Vicki as my friend, Bill had to be great also. May God bless him.
