Albert Dawson

DAWSON, Albert D., age 77 of Brooksville died at home June 27, 2005. He was born in St. Petersburg, FL and attended Clemson A&M and then graduated from the University of Florida with a BSA degree and Master of Agriculture degree. He was an Eagle Scout and later an airplane mechanic and Aerial Gunner in the U.S. Navy. Later he became a ranch manager for several ranches, including A. Duda & Sons in Oviedo, FL and the V.O. Ranch in Sarasota County, FL. He began his career with the County Extension Service in Sarasota, County, FL, before becoming Asst. County Agent in Pasco County and then moved to Hernando County to become Hernando County?s Extension Director. He retired EMERITUS as an Extension Agent III with the University of Florida Cooperative Service in 1990. Al was also a member of Rotary International, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, 4-H, Hernando County Fire/Emergency Services Study Committee and numerous other committees and civic and professional organizations. He is survived his wife of almost 54 years: Sydney Maxine; 2 Sons: Douglas and Sydney; 3 Daughters: Christy Frazier, Patti Anglin and Jennifer Wheeles; 9 Grandchildren: Meridith, Paige, Allison, Amber, Holly, Brittney, Andrea, Jessie and Saige;1 Great Grandson: Collin; a Brother: Peter Dawson; 2 Sisters: Grace Gulizia and Cecelia Dawson.Visitation will be 6-8pm, Wed., June 29, 2005 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel.
