Aurora M. Martel

MARTEL, Aurora Mattarocci passed peacefully at home on November 15th at the age of 71. Aurora was one of the most loving people to ever grace this earth. She infused that kindness into everything she did, and will be remembered for her selfless spirit. She was incredibly loved by her family, who will miss her dearly. She was talented with languages, as a chef and seamstress, and innumerable other skills. When she wasn’t making a delicious meal for her family, she loved to spend her time reading, and tending to her plants and her cherished pets. Aurora was also a brave woman, who at the age of 16, left her small village of Pastena, Italy in search of adventure in America. While she missed her family, she loved her new home immensely. Her courage, selflessness, and fortitude inspired those who loved her every day. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Martel for 34 years, the loving mother of AnneMarie Martel and Mark Fitzpatrick. She is survived by her sister, Margherita (Nina) Rotondo, and her brother, Armando Mattarocci. A chapel  service will be held  at 5:00pm, Monday, November 20, 2017  Merritt Funeral Home, 4095 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill FL 34609. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service.
