Bertha E. Carpio

CARPIO, Bertha E. Garcia, age 77 of Spring Hill died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the HPH Hospice House. A native of El Paso, Texas she married her childhood love, Eddie Carpio 55 years ago. They traveled the world and lived in several U.S. cities. She has been an executive secretary for the U.S. General Accounting Office in Washington, D.C. in the 1980’s. Bertha was a vibrant, enthusiastic, thoughtful woman and a gentle soul. She is survived by her husband: Eduardo Carpio, son: Ted Carpio; daughter & son-in-law: Toni & Paul Maltagliati; sisters & brothers-in-law: Emma & Victor Perez and Martha & Enrique Acosta; grandchildren: Maria (Gerald), Dominic, Victoria, Alexandra and Nicolas; two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A devout Catholic, she was a Eucharistic minister and a volunteer in several other ministries. Viewings will be held at Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with a rosary service at 7:30pm. A funeral mass of the resurrection will be celebrated by her nephew, Father Victor Perez on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 11am at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Memorial gifts may be sent to Brooksville HPH Hospice.
