I want to express my deepest condolences to the Baton family. Burl was one of a kind and and will truly be missed by many of us who knew him. May God continue to console you in your loss and may God bless you always.

My co-worker, my confidant, my sounding board, my voice of reason, my teacher, my friend. Burl, you were all of the above to me. You were, hands down, the smartest, most perceptive, and funniest person I've ever known. I will miss our talks, your sage advice, but most of all, your wicked sense of humor. I regret that I never showed you the "secret gay handshake" and that I wasn't able to "convert" you; Lord knows I tried. I was blessed to have you in my life. Rest easy, Burl. I was lucky to have known you at all. You were a remarkable man who touched my life in a profound way. I will never forget you.

RIP burl, thanks for a great time we all had at goodwill in Brooksville. you were the bomb with the jokes and such a great sense of humor, you'll surely be missed by all. hey fella now you can retire and tell all those jokes to all who is in heaven with you (-; 

death is nothing at all, I have only slipped into the next room. I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other, that we still are. call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you always used, put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorry, laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. pray, smile, think of me, pray for me. let my name every be the household that it always was. let it be spoken without effort, without a trace of shadow in it. life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was. there is unbroken continuity, why should I be out of mind, because I am out of sight ?  I am waiting for you somewhere very near, just around the corner,    all is well

I miss you already, my dear big brother. I'm so glad that I have the assurance that I will see you again. I know that you are home at last, safe in the arms of Jesus.

so sorry to here about Burl my son John worked with Burl first time I met him he was so funny . he was a person you could not dislike. he will be missed.

Burl was bigger than life in so many ways.... the way he turned a phrase, his quick and intellectual wit that always made those around him laugh, his huge heart and his willingness to always be there for friends and family in time of need. It's so hard to believe he's gone but I know he will never be forgotten. Sincerest sympathies to Janet and all the Batten family and friends. God speed Burl! Tosky and Gala couldn't bear heaven without you!

Our family will deeply miss our Uncle Burl. He was a kind, loveable and funny individual who cared about others. We are going to definitely miss his jokes, especially his PHD joke! It won't be the same without him!! Janet, we are here if you need anything.

I truly enjoyed working with you,you were a wonderful person that I am so greatful to have had you as a friend I will always remember the good time and the joking around sure made work much easier to take and made the day go faster I am so truly blessed to have you as a friend and tho you are an angle now looking over all of us you will never be forgotten the kids and I love you thank you for being our friend soar high and free
