The horse community lost a national treasure the day Chuck passed away.  He was instrumental in starting horse de-spooking clinics and many of us on Mounted Patrol Units were trained by Chuck.  The techniques we learned from Chuck are being used to train others and produce well rounded police horses.  Every time we train and use one of Chuck's techniques, Chuck in essence will still be training and teaching.  We will miss Chuck in the physical sense but we know when we saddle up Chuck will be riding with us in our hearts. And someday soon, we will all be on that Heavenly Trail Ride" with Chuck leading the way. Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to Kathy and all of Chuck's family."

My dear sweet friend:  I will miss all of our chats. Your wisdom and knowledge that you shared with me I will always remember.  Most of all I will miss bringing you Apple Butter and Fried Apples from Crackerbarrel.  I always loved our visits.  You did what you loved til the very end and that is a good way to go. I don't think you realized how many people you touched with your kindness and generousity. Cathy:  Chuck was a wonderful man and love you and his family dearly.  He would always talk about you all to me.  I could hear the love in his voice when he mentioned your name.  He was a very lucky man to have had such a happy life.  I will miss him terribly!

One of our favorite things has been times spent with Kathy,Chuck and his kids and their families. He was a great story-teller, and we were always a captive, interested audience.  Chuck was a true horse whisperer" and a kind-hearted gentleman.  We will miss him sooo much. Happy trails to you

I met Chuck when my pony, Amber, started showing problems with becoming a driving pony. We took her to Chuck for a 1/2 day assessment. He got her hitched and driven - which we had not been able to do. Later, he came down to Lithia to work with Amber, who was and is a real challenge. Finally, he said we could bring Amber to him. After 30 days of driving Amber, Chuck allowed that Amber could be driven, but he would never trust her to not explode. Chuck seemed to feel badly that he had not been able to help me or Amber. He told me that if I ever got another driving horse, I could bring that horse to him for training at a big discount. I enjoyed the short time I knew Chuck - his personality, skill with horses, humor, good sense - all the things that make a wonderful person. I miss him.

I worked with Chuck at Allstate Homes for several years.  We spent many hours traveling to jobs and in those moments he shared many riding stories as well as educating me on all aspects of construction.  We rode horses together several times and at the time he had a small,quick, sorrel gelding named Barney".  I have tried to locate Chuck over the years and am deeply saddened that we didn't get a chance to ride together again.  I know that day will happen for us in the future."

I knew him for such a short time,but in that time he taught me so muchand he truly blessed my life.He taught because it was his gift,freely given to creature and human alike. He taught understanding and kindness,but, I think, most of all patience.All could see the quiet passion he hadfor his work, his play, his art".We have all been blessed by his livingand saddened by his passing.But Heaven holds more joy this dayas Chuck drives his hitch of tenthrough the clouds with a smile
