David Allan Laing

LAING, David Allan, age 68 of Brooksville died Mon., May 24, 2010.  Born in Davenport, IA he came here 30 years ago from Bettendorf, IA. He retired as Vice-President of SunTrust Bank, formerly known as Hernando State Bank.  He served in the U.S. Army Reserve, was past president of Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce, now known as Greater Hernando Chamber of Commerce, served on the Board of Directors of Mid Florida Community Services, Board of Directors of the Hernando County Airport, Board of Directors of Hernando County YMCA, Committee of 100 Board, was treasurer of Hernando Youth League, Dixie Majors, past president of the Bettendorf Chamber of Commerce, former treasurer of the Bettendorf School System, serving for 12 years and was a member of the Bettendorf Jaycee’s. Survivors include his wife: Sherrie; son: Jeff Laing of Brooksville; brothers: Jack Laing of Bettendorf, IA and Don & Scott Laing both of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren: Rebecca, Julia and Jordan. Visitation for friends will be 5 – 8pm, Thur., May 27, 2010 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville, Florida, where funeral services will be conducted 11:00am, Fri., May 28, 2010. Interment will remain private for the family.
