NEWKIRK, David Royal, age 64 of Spring Hill, Florida died Friday, July 24, 2015 at Oak Hill Hospital. Born in Arlington, Virginia he came here 3 years ago from Ijamsville, Maryland. He retired from the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel and served during Desert Storm. Survivors include his wife: Bonita; son: Douglas Newkirk of Shanghai, China; daughters: Angela Bailiff of Indiana and Somer Struhar of Brooksville, Florida; mother; Joan Newkirk of North Fort Myers, Florida; brother: Stephen Newkirk of Bryant Pond, Maine; sister: Melissa Young of Bryant Pond, Maine; 4 grandchildren. Military honors will be conducted 3:00pm, Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
