

Don was born in Littleton, Massachusetts on March 2, 1936 at home. His family moved to Pinellas Park, Florida in 1948 and he graduated from Tomilson Vocational School. He proudly served his country after joining the United States Army on July 24, 1956 and was stationed in Korea for 18 months. He met his wife, Barbara, of 66 years, in January of 1959 and they settled in Pinellas Park, Florida. In September 1960, he went to work for National Cash Register and was employed with them for 33 years. In March of 1965, NCR gave him the territory of Hernando County, so Don and his family moved to Rolling Acres in Brooksville, Florida.
Don was one of the founding members of the Spring Lake Volunteer Fire Department that is located now on Mondon Hill Road in Brooksville, Florida. He also was on the board of directors for the Hernando County Habitat for Humanity and helped build several houses in Brooksville. He and his family joined the Spring Lake United Methodist Church in 1967 and have been a part of the church for 60 years. He served as a trustee for many years, and he completed multiple repairs at the church.
He is preceded in his passing by his father, John Christian Berg Sr.; his mother, Alberta Phelps Berg; his brothers, John Christian Berg Jr., Richard E Berg, and Roger P Berg; his son, James David Berg; and his great-granddaughter, Remington Rose Perrone.
Don is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Berg; his daughter, Donna Berg Kline (Michael); his son, John Robert Berg; his daughter-in-law, Charleen Berg; grandchildren, Justin Wright, Amanda Berg Perrone (Nick), Brianne Swann Hazelton (RJ), Jamie Berg Lewis (Danny), John C Berg, Rebecca Berg Phillips (Taylor), Michael L Berg (Jayna), and Carlee Mei Berg, as well as six great-grandchildren, Jagger Dulje, Lakyn Lewis, Gavin Perrone, Jaxon Lewis, Emersyn Perrone, and Brooks Hazelton.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Spring Lake Methodist Church on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 2:00pm. At a later date, Don will be interred at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Spring Lake Methodist Church, 4191 Spring Lake Hwy, Brooksville, FL 34601.
