Evelyn was born in Amonote, Virginia. She grew up in Morgantown, West Virginia during the Great Depression in a family of hardworking coal miners. Her father passed away when she was two years old. Her childhood stories and home remedies were most interesting. She felt hunger during her youth and as an adult made sure that those around her would never be hungry.
After raising five children, she finished high school, passing the classes with flying colors. She worked as a CNA for many years taking care of the severely handicapped. She called them her children even though many of them were adults. She worked as the Director of Housekeeping for a high-end hotel. Evelyn was a strong woman and could accomplish anything she set her mind to.
Some of her happiest moments was spending time with babies and young children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her door was always open to any family member in need. She was quick to offer a roof over their heads and help with raising their children.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, William & Sarah Rakosi, and her siblings, Oatis Rakosi, Webster Rakosi, Francis Junior Rakosi, and Helen Sachetti.
She is survived by her sons, Allen (Lois) Currens and Gary (Ginger) Currens; her daughters, Karen Zoretic, Sherry Currens, and Jodi Blaine; twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
