He was born February 5, 1933 in Brooksville, Florida and has been a lifelong resident. He served in the United States Army and was a Foreman for Dairy Service formally known as Citrus Service in Brooksville. He was a member of Brooksville Christian Church.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, John Franklin and Amy Gillis, Bruce and Monica Gillis, of Brooksville, Florida; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation for friends will be 10:00am-11:00am, Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, where funeral services will begin at 11:00am with Pastor Wise officiating. Interment to follow at Brooksville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Brooksville Christian Church.
