Dr. George Wallace Boring Jr.

Dr. Boring was a charter member of Faith Presbyterian Church of Brooksville where he served many years as Ruling Elder and choir member.

He and Nancy moved to Brooksville in 1966 where he established his dental practice, becoming one of two dentists in town when it was still very small. He practiced dentistry there for 41 years, retiring in 2007. Dr. Boring served his community during those years in the Kiwanis Club where he was president in 1972. In addition he served on the Board of Directors for SunTrust Bank (now Truist) and Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He was a member of the Florida Dental Association, FSU Alumni Association, and FSU Booster Club.

Dr. Boring enjoyed singing with the Old Fogie Christmas Group, playing golf, fishing, hunting, and going to FSU football games. He and his wife Nancy enjoyed a lifetime of travel and adventure, visiting all 50 states and many countries in Europe and Canada. They spent summers at the beach and went to the mountains of North Carolina in the fall.

Dr. Boring was born in Arcadia, Florida in 1939 and was a graduate of DeSoto High School, where he was quarterback for the football team. There he met Nancy, a cheerleader who became his high school sweetheart and wife. Afterwards, he graduated from Florida State University and the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Decades later as an alumni he was able to proudly present a diploma at the commencement ceremony of his grandson David Carlton when he also graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry.

Dr. Boring is survived by his four children: Deborah Crawford of Mount Dora, George W. Boring III (Denise) of DeLand, Beth Carlton (Mark) of Nokesville, Va., Mary Ann Dellegatto (Paul) of Tampa; eleven grandchildren: Ginny Crawford Spooner (Nick), John Crawford, Mary Katherine Boring, George W. Boring IV, Peter Boring; Dr. David Carlton (Sarah), Shannon Korta (Christian), Kevin Carlton (Savannah); Rachel Dellegatto, Caitlyn Dellegatto, Lindsey Dellegatto; and eight great-grandchildren: Jaxon Spooner, Story Spooner, Jonah Spooner, Judah Spooner, Mark Carlton, Avrie Korta, Elsie Korta and Rosemary Korta. He is also survived by his sister Sue Milhausen. In addition to his wife Nancy, he is preceded in death by his parents, George and Lois Boring; and sisters, Beverly Johnson, Ann Frier, and Kay Daniels.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Breast Cancer Foundation, or the Alzheimer's Association.

A Religious Ceremony will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Faith Church, 200 Mt Fair Avenue, Brooksville, FL 34601.

A Graveside Service will follow at 11:30am at Brooksville Cemetery, 1275 Olmes Road, Brooksville, FL 34601.
