Born on February 8, 1948, in Peru, Indiana, George lived a life defined by service, devotion, and an enduring love for family and country.
George proudly served in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. His courage and dedication in service to his nation remained a source of pride throughout his entire life. After returning home, he pursued a career in construction before discovering, alongside his beloved wife Linda, a lifelong passion for working with horses and farm animals.
Together, George and Linda built a ranch in Brooksville, Florida that became a labor of love and a cornerstone of their lives. There, they cared for cows, goats, and other animals, but their greatest joy was in raising, training, and housing horses. Their ranch not only reflected their shared passion but also became a place where they extended their care to others in the community.
George was a man who gave deeply of himself—to his country, his community, and above all, his family. He is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Linda, in 2024. He is survived by his three children: Kimberly, Sandra, and George; and by his ten grandchildren: Mariah, Alex, Kayla, Katarina, Jason, Alyssa, Matthew, Edward, Gabby, and Caleb; and by his three great-grandchildren: Kaiden, Greyson, and Elliott.
Those who knew George will remember his steadfast heart, his tireless work ethic, and the love he poured into every aspect of his life. While his passing leaves a deep void, his family takes comfort in knowing that he and Linda are reunited in heaven, watching over their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with the same care and devotion they gave in life.
George’s legacy is one of love, service, and strength, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Committal Service for George will be held at 10:00am, Friday, October 3, 2025 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
Following the conclusion of the committal service, there will be a Celebration of Life Gathering at the Brooksville residence of George S. Marquis II.
