She was the beloved wife of the late Roger Moltrup; dearest mother of April (James) Donoghue and Brad (Casey) Moltrup; cherished grammie of Aemile, Abaigeal, Brad, and Nolan Roger; daughter of the late Norman and Jean Filipiak; daughter-in-law of the late Evelyn and George Moltrup; dearest sister of Norman (Betty) Filipiak, Janet (Jim) Farleo, Mary Ellen Filipiak; and sister-in-law of Bonnie (Bill) Measel, Marvin (Debbie) Moltrup, Robert (Sue) Moltrup and the late Joyce Czapla. She is survived by Aunt Joann Angiel (late Robert), Uncle Gary Schwartz, and Uncle Robert (Sue) Schwartz and the late John (Marie), and the late James Schwartz. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family across the country.
She was raised on Stony Road in Lancaster, where she met the love of her life (and next-door neighbor). After graduating from Lancaster High School, she and Roger were married and eventually moved to Corfu, NY, where they built their first home. Later, they moved to Falcon Dr. in Depew, where they raised their children. Gloria worked in the stock brokerage field for 25 years and dedicated many hours supporting and serving at BINGO and other events for Our Lady of Pompeii School and St. Mary’s High School, where both of her children attended and graduated. She enjoyed sharing entertaining stories, playing cards, Dominos, and playing board games with her family and friends, always ensuring everyone felt welcome.
Gloria will be remembered for her loving care of her family, unwavering devotion to her husband, and being the hardest worker and toughest lady around. She always had snacks and treats ready for her grandchildren days (or weeks) before she would see them and, a willingness to help out watching them or her grand-dogs whenever her children needed her. She always figured out how to make things work out, and was your best resource for making any travel arrangements. She made an amazing life story with her husband while traveling through national and state parks, and did her best to continue that adventurous life after his passing. Many people called her “Best Friend” and her life’s reach extends well beyond her immediate family and friends.
The weekend prior to her unexpected passing, she attended the graduation of her granddaughter Abby, and was very proud of all of her grandchildren.
Gloria volunteered her time and talents to her community throughout the years and continued after retiring and moving to Florida. She spent a considerable amount of time creating crafts and organizing/vending at craft shows to support St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital out of respect for their contribution to cancer research.
While she loved flowers and gardening, her wish is that any memorials be made as a donation to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family will receive guests at a Celebration of Life in her honor that will take place on Saturday, June 1st, from 1:00-4:00pm at The Heather Property Owners Association Community Center, 9100 Nakoma Way, Brooksville, FL 34613.
