Helen Edna Parent

Helen was born in Cadyville, New York on September 24, 1929 to parents, Richard Delisle and Edna (Latour) Delisle. On November 30, 1946, Helen married Gervis Parent in Cadyville, New York.

A lifelong reader, she found joy in the written word and in the calm of search-word puzzles. She also held a special fondness for genealogy, valuing the connections between generations and the stories that shape a family’s roots.

Crocheting remained a constant throughout her life, and through it she created warmth in the most literal sense—making afghans for her family, stitch by stitch, as lasting expressions of love and presence.

Family was at the center of Helen’s world. Her home was a gathering place, and her presence helped make ordinary moments feel lasting and meaningful. Sundays were a cherished tradition, when everyone gathered at her home for a large meal she and her husband prepared, followed by board games, card games, or working on puzzles together.

She leaves a lasting legacy through her family, including her five children, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-children.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Robert) Woodworth and her son, Allen Parent, both of Brooksville, Florida; her daughter, Helen (Paul) Noble of Rensselear, New York; brother, Richard A. Delisle of Cadyville, New York; and daughter-in-law, Linda (Robert) Parent.

She is predeceased by her husband, Gervis "Buz" Parent; son, Robert Parent; daughter, Jeanette Parent; sister, Florence Collins; brothers, Kenneth Delisle and Maynard Delisle; granddaughter, Tammy Parent; grandson, Robert Fowler.; and daughter-in-law, Sharron (Allen) Parent.

Helen’s memory will be cherished by all those who knew her, and she will be missed dearly.
