Jerry Branan

December 8, 1949 – August 26, 2025

Jerry "Dawg" Branan, a retired Captain in the Merchant Marines and a man known for his strength, loyalty, and unforgettable spirit, passed away on August 26, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born on December 8, 1949, Jerry lived a life full of dedication, adventure, and deep love for his family. His long and honorable career in the Merchant Marines was marked by leadership, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to service.

He was a beloved father, son, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. His presence was a steady force in the lives of many, and his impact will be felt for generations.

Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Donald Branan; mother, Peggy Wilson; and his brothers, Eddy Branan and William "Billy" Peck. He is survived by his brothers Tom Branan, Robert Branan Sr., and James Peck; his daughters Traci Branan, Heather Grohl, Damianna Branan Folse, and Jerri Lynne Branan Allen; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and at least one great-great-grandchild. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who will cherish his memory.

"Dawg" will be remembered for his grit, his humor, and the fierce love he had for his family. He had a story for every occasion, a heart big enough to hold the whole world, and a laugh that could light up the darkest day.

A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you raise a glass, tell a good story, and remember Jerry with a smile.
