He was born October 31, 1944 in Tampa, Florida. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and worked as a union pipefitter.
He is preceded in death by his son, John McCray Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Jennine Knezinek of Brooksville, Florida; sister, Alberta Raulerson; two grandsons, Brian Hanson and Lance McCray; four great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; and ex-wife and dear friend, Betty McCray Brownlow.
