He was born April 8, 1940 in Tampa, Florida and came to Brooksville 20 years ago. He was the former manager of Hillsborough Movie Theater and a member of Church of Christ in Brooksville.
He is survived by his wife, Mertice L. McKinney, married 48yrs; daughters, Shela Shields, Cheryl Godwin and Krisi Constance; son, Christopher McKinney; Stepfather, David Valdes; sister, Jacqueline Cain; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John M. McKinney, Jr.
A Celebration of Life is planned and will be held at a later date.
