Kathleen was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Eleanor and Francis Bischoff. Her life’s journey took her to many places across the United States including Ohio, California, and Texas, where she birthed each of her children. In 1981, her journey brought her to Sarasota, Florida. She worked as a secretary for a large equipment company. She enjoyed being part of a community of people where she could be very social. After a few years, she moved to Seffner, Florida. She lived in the surrounding area until she met the love of her life, Roger Dunn and moved to Valrico, Florida, where she stayed until October 2020. In late October 2020, she moved to Concord, North Carolina to live with her daughter.
She was a lifelong member of the American Legion in Riverview, Florida. During her time and affiliation there, she even served as auxiliary president. She enjoyed socializing with others, doing puzzles, watching Hallmark movies, playing cards and watching NCIS. She loved sweet treats, especially Zero candy bars, carrot cake and chocolate ice cream.
Due to her illness, she had a regular nurse that took care of her for weekly treatments. Kathy loved to joke with and tease her nurses. They would even ask her which arm she would like them to use to take blood pressure from, and she would respond with “How about yours?”
She often dreamed of the day that she could be reunited with the love of her life Roger Dunn. There was not a day since his passing in November of 2019 that she didn’t share with someone about her love for “her Roger”.
Kathy leaves behind to mourn her passing, her children, Teresa Barfield(Joel), Amy Channell (Aaron), Gregory Decker (Dina) and stepson, Roger Dunn Jr. Additionally, she leaves behind eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one sister.
Kathleen is predeceased by her beloved Roger Dunn, her parents, two brothers and one sister as well as her granddaughter, Jessica.
Kathleen Dunn will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery (6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513). Arrangements are being made by Merritt Funeral Home (2 S Lemon Ave, Brooksville, FL 34601).
A special procession from Merritt Funeral Home to Florida National Cemetery will take place at 12 PM on March 17, 2026. The committal service at Florida National Cemetery will commence at 1 PM.
