
BRADFORD, Lloyd I., Sr., of Largo and Spring Hill, FL was called to be in the arms of his Heavenly Father on July 17, 2013 after a long illness. He was born in Union, KY on May 21, 1924 and was the son of Russell and Emma (Irwin) Bradford. While still a teenager, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942, serving in Panama, Puerto Rico, Germany and various stateside assignments before retiring from active duty in 1962. In 1968 he volunteered to return to active duty and served one tour in Vietnam prior to his final military retirement in 1971. In 1956 he married the love of his life, Phyllis Robinson, a Registered Nurse from Gorham, NH. He and Phyllis recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. After his Army retirement, he made his home for several years in Lancaster, NH where he enjoyed trout fishing in both New Hampshire and Vermont. In 1988 he and Phyllis moved to Largo where they enjoyed many years of retired bliss together. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Lloyd “Brad” Bradford, Jr. and his wife, Mindy of Lancaster, NH and by his daughter Gayle Kreitzer of Spring Hill, FL. Also surviving him are his grandsons, Christopher Bradford, Nicholas Bradford, John Libby, Carle Libby, Michael Pearson, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Charlene E. Carroll. Also surviving him are his beloved brother, John E. Bradford and his wife Shirley of Erlanger, KY and his brother-in-law, Barney Robinson of Largo, FL and Maidstone, VT. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Russell and David and his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Keener, Laura McCarty and Eleanora Funk. A memorial service will be held later this fall with burial to follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
