Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the passing of Lois A. Taylor, born July 4, 1932. Daughter of Olga Tallakson and Arthur Young, and sister of Agnes and Mable, all pre deceased. Married to James Dexter (d.), Lois was a loving and supportive wife of thirty five years. Proud mother of James, Cynthia and Douglas. Katie, Larry and Donna were privileged to have her as a mother in law. Devoted to all her children, she modeled the values of commitment, hard work, love and pride, taught them to believe in themselves and go on to accomplish their dreams. Being of Norwegian and Scottish descent, she was independent, tenacious and determined.
The devoted “Grammy” to nine grandchildren; Meghan, Kerri, Timothy, Nicole, Christopher, Bryan, Maureen, Katelyn, and James (d.). Whether near or far, she participated in their lives and upbringing, and gave them the gift of her love each day.
Lois had a career at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles in a supervisor capacity for twenty years. Upon her move to Florida, she brought her energy to many activities; the Red Hat Society, New Yorker and Lois Clubs, and was a former volunteer at Spring Hill Hospital. An active parishioner at Saint Andrews, she enjoyed mass and fellowship with the community. She will be sorely missed at the Spring Hill Enrichment Center, where she could often be found with her friends. A passionate and competitive player of Mahjongg and Scrabble, she loved to share her appreciation of the game with others, whether at the Center, in friend’s homes or on themed cruises.
Lois touched all our lives, and made us each a better individual; we will carry her always in our hearts.
May Odin give you knowledge on your path,
May Thor grant you strength and courage on your way,
And may Loki give you laughter as you go.
Norwegian farewell
