March 28, 1972 – September 21, 2025
Michael Ray Bethel, 53, of Key West, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025. Born and raised in the vibrant heart of Key West, Michael lived a life deeply rooted in family, nature, and the sea. His childhood was filled with fishing trips, sun-soaked days on the water, and cherished moments spent with loved ones—memories that shaped the kind, generous man he became.
Michael is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Donald W. Bethel and Joyce S. Bethel, whose love and guidance remained with him throughout his life.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through his daughters, Alisha Bethel and Alyssa Bethel; and his grandkids, Valerie and Braxton Jr. who were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Darlene Nunes, and her husband Brett Nunes; his brothers, Steve Bethel and his wife Holly Bethel, and Robert Bethel and his wife Jacqueline Bethel. Michael was a devoted uncle to all his nieces and nephew, whose lives he touched with warmth and wisdom.
Michael will be remembered for his easy smile, his deep love for the ocean, his passion for cooking and the way he made everyone feel like family. His spirit will live on in the stories shared, the laughter echoed, and the waters he so dearly loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at 1:00pm, Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Linda Pedersen Park (6400 Shoal Line Boulevard, Spring Hill FL 34607) where friends and family will gather to celebrate Michael’s life and the joy he brought to all that knew him; time to be announced.
May he rest in peace, surrounded by the calm he always found by the sea.
