He was born November 8, 1978 in Covington, Kentucky and came to this area 25 years ago. He was an equipment operator and laborer for Wilson Construction and was of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Prater. He is survived by his mother, Pamela Prater of Chipley, Florida; wife, Holly Prater; son, Cody Prater; daughter, Alice Prater; brothers and sister-in-law, Shawn and Annmaria Prater of Masaryktown, Florida, Matthew Prater of Chipley, Florida, James Prater of Washington; sister, Angela Prater of Washington; several nieces and nephews.
