

She was born on March 19, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, and was of Norwegian descent. She married the love of her life, James Charles Kozee, in Jacksonville, FL on April 20, 1957.
Muriel was a seamstress by trade, even working at a puppet factory for a few years. She would also use her sewing skills to make clothing for donation to Faith Lutheran Church. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her professional life, as she was also known for rehabilitating wild animals.
In her personal time, Muriel enjoyed attending many different crafting clubs with the other retired ladies and cherished her trips to the base. Even after retirement, Muriel continued to sew and create, making dozens of toys for her grandchildren to enjoy. In her later years, she loved to visit farms and interact with the animals. When at home, she could always she found with a dog in her arms. Her legacy is the love she gave to her children, grandchildren, and all of those whose lives she touched.
She is preceded in her passing by her beloved husband, James Charles Kozee; her sister-in-law, Joyce Elliott; and by her niece, Amber Joy Elliott.
Muriel is survived by her son, Daryll (Sandra) Kozee; her daughter, Simone Kozee; her grandchildren, Nicole (Sam) Degennaro, Gabriel (Sarah) Pabon-Kozee, Austin (Faith Graham) Pabon-Kozee, Joshua (Patty Miszuk) Pabon-Kozee, and Madison (Javian Hernandez) Kozee; her brother, Roger Elliott; her nephew, Roger (Tammy) Elliott Jr.; her great-nieces and great-nephews; her lifelong friends, Irene Nieves and Bobbie Nielsen; and her many family members in Norway.
A celebration in honor of Muriel and James Kozee will be held at Merritt Funeral Home (2 South Lemon Avenue, Brooksville, FL 34601) on November 17, 2025, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, where the service begins at 12:00 pm.
A special thank you to Simone Kozee for her devoted care to Grandma and Grandpa in their final years.
