We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19). Patricia Ann Thompson Everhart was born April 20, 1943, in Lacoochee, Florida and placed into the arms of her loving mother, Rosie Lee Gardner Thompson. On July 3, 2024, Patricia entered into the gates of Heaven and into the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus Christ. How beautiful it is to begin your life with love, live your life with love and then pass into love everlasting.
At the tender age of fourteen, on December 30, 1957, Patricia married Isaac. He was the love of her life, and she became his devoted wife for the next 56 years. Alzheimer’s is a cruel and unyielding disease. At first, it took his name from her which she replaced with the term “my husband.” Eleven years after his death, it finally stole his memory and their love completely away.
Proverbs 31:28 speaks of the mother whose children rise up and call her blessed. Patricia was that kind of mother. She raised three daughters, guiding them always with a gentle hand filled with kindness, patience, love and understanding. Her grandchildren were her heart. She was their sweet Nana, who would, at the drop of a hat, cook their favorite foods upon request. She would be delighted as each of her great-grandchildren were born and lived long enough to hold her first great-great-grandchild. As much as Alzheimer’s tried, it could never erase how much she loved children and babies.
Around 1974, Patricia joined Isaac as a tree surgeon in the newly formed Everhart Tree Service. As Isaac would cut limbs and tops of trees, Patricia would strategically use ropes to lower the awkward and heavy pieces to the ground. She used chainsaws and did her share loading brush and logs onto the trucks. It was a dirty, hot job, especially in the Florida heat and we challenge any man who thinks they could do as well as she did. A highlight of her career was when the Tampa Tribune did a large feature presentation of their work, including photos.
Patricia loved adventure and nature. She and Isaac spent numerous hours walking and exploring forest trails. She loved to fish. Whether, fresh or saltwater, as long as she had her Zebco 33, her favorite baits or a cane pole for mullet, it was all good. She was an excellent southern cook. Her biscuits and gravy, fresh creamed corn and many other dishes are legendary to her family. She loved all animals, with the exception of venomous snakes, due to a bite from a ground rattler as a child. She kept her bird feeders full and did not mind when squirrels ate most of the food. She loved going to thrift stores and yard work. She was strong, beautiful, funny, and wise. She was always the calmest port in any storm.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Isaac Everhart; parents, Jones K. and Rosie Lee Gardner Thompson; and brother, Jimmy Thompson.
Left to cherish her memory, are daughters, Rose (Danny) Taylor, Patricia (Thomas) Johnson, and Ika (Clinton) Harmon; grandchildren, Daniel (Jennifer) Taylor, Cheri (Adam Wright) Johnson, Jessica Taylor Gay, Matthew (Stephanie) Harmon, Mallory (Christopher) Ramsey, Kristin (Brandon) May, and Caleb (Angela Covell) Harmon; great-grandchildren, Hunter (Caitlyn Allen) Phelps, Brandon Phelps, Tyler Phelps, Brianna (Nicholas) Cheverie, Jaydn Wright, Hannah Taylor, Avery Taylor, Addison Wright, Ryleigh Ramsey, Taylor Ramsey, Emily Harmon, Noah Ramsey, Ryan Jade Gay, Lainey May, and Jacob Eymer; great-great-grandchildren, Athena Phelps, Lincoln Merchant, and unborn baby boy Phelps; sister, Wanda Jernigan; brothers, Billy Joe (Sharon) Thompson and Kellis (Marcia) Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Patricia’s caregivers, with the memory care unit, at The Grande. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the excellent care of, and the love shown to our beloved. We would also like to thank HPH for all that they do.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00pm, Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Lake Lindsey Cemetery, 22371 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville, FL 34601, with Elder Clinton Harmon officiating.
