
BURGOON, Ray E., age 88 of Spring Hill passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at Oak Hill Hospital. Born in Ottawa, KS he came to this area in 1991 from Hamilton, OH. He was a welder for General Motors and a US Navy WWII Veteran. Survivors include his wife of 67 years: Elsie “Terry” Burgoon; daughters & sons-in-law: Terry & Roger Feiler of Spring Hill, Karese & Randy Osborne of Alexandria, IN and Michelle & Ralph Cooke of Oxford, OH; 9 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Each had a special nickname and he shared his stories, songs & handmade creations leaving behind many fond memories. He crafted artistic pine-needle baskets, carved wood pieces and was an incredible man. His grandchildren envisioned him to be like “Popeye” because he was in the Navy. He will be loved & missed. Visitation for friends will be from 10-11am Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel where a funeral service will be conducted at 11am. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
