
Rebecca [Becky] Potter, died January 13, 2011 at Hernando Hospice Care Center following a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born June 8, 1925 in Stony Creek, NY to Rev. Howard and Lucille [Ramie] Chapman. She is predeceased by two brothers, Edwin and Arland Chapman, and a sister, Pauline Streeter. Surviving is her husband of 64 years, Robert Potter; a sister, June Hartman of Glens Falls, NY; two brothers, Rev. Harold Chapman of Cincinnati, OH and Donald Chapman of Hernando, FL; two daughters, Judy [and Jim] Dayton of Byron Center, MI and Carolyn [and Larry] Mayse of Galena, OH, one son, James [and Cindy] of Naples, FL, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Becky graduated from Glens Falls High School [class of 1944]. She was employed as a capacitor winder for General Electric in Fort Edward, NY for 30 years, retiring in 1983. She was a long time member of the Glens Falls Wesleyan Church prior to moving to Florida where she held many offices including Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, member of the Missionary Society, Young People’s Society sponsor and choir member. Before becoming ill Becky enjoyed camping, traveling, playing card and board games and spending time with her family and friends. Becky and her husband have been long time residents of Brooksville Wesleyan Village in Brooksville, FL where they are members of the Brooksville Wesleyan Church. A memorial service will be conducted at the Brooksville Wesleyan Church on Monday, January 17, at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be conducted at a later date at the Southside Cemetery in South Glens Falls, New York.
