

SALO, Reino J., age 83 of Greenville (&Munising), Michigan, died December 16, 2011 in Brooksville, Florida. He was born in Munising, Michigan where he graduated from Mather High School and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Osland, also of Munising. He answered his country’s call to duty, serving in the U.S. Army during WWII and later serving 4 years in the U.S. Army Reserve. He received an honorable discharge, later paying tribute to his comrades-in-arms at the WWII memorial in Washington, DC. He was a faithful and loving Christian father to his 5 sons: James, John, Stephan, Timothy & Matthew. He followed Christ by setting the example of Christian leadership in his home, including being a loving husband, fully understanding and practicing committment , to his wife of 63 years, Barbara. He was also grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He served as a committed Christian leader and member of the Wesleyan Church all his life. He was employed by the Michigan Consolidated Gas Company for 42 years, rising to chief engineer because of the integrity of his leadership. His life can be summed up as follows: He loved the outdoors, camping, hunting and cutting wood. He loved his wife by being faithful and committed. He loved his boys by spending time with them and teaching them in word, in truth and by example. But most of all, he loved his Saviour, Jesus Christ, who died for him, redeemed him, and has now rewarded him with eternal life! Visitation for friends will be 9:30 – 10:30am, Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the Brooksville Wesleyan Church, where funeral services will begin at 10:30am, with Reverend Doyle Brannon officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Oakfield Township Cemetery, Greenville, Michigan. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Reino J. Salo, World Missions Fund, 1443 W.
