

He was a resident of Brooksville, FL, and he formerly resided in Brooklyn, NY and Deer Park, NY.
Richard (sometimes referred to as “Homer”) was a man of many interests and talents. He loved to be outside in nature, playing ball with his pals, and watching Jeopardy with his beloved wife of nearly 67 years. He enjoyed woodworking with a friend, creating ceramics, and painting. Above all, Richard was known for his helpful nature, serving as a devoted husband, dad, pop-pop, and a dedicated police officer.
He is preceded in passing by his parents, Harry & Ursula Bolten, as well as his big brother, Harry Bolten, whom he missed dearly.
Richard is survived by his wife, Christine Bolten; his children, Donna (Stan) Hynoski, Jackie Bolten, Christopher (Debbie) Bolten, Marie Alena Bolten, and Richard (Cathy) Bolten; his grandchildren, Luke Bolten, Megan Bolten, Michael Bolten, Robert Petrone, Stephanie Petrone, Evan Petrone, Kaitlyn Hynoski, and Genavieve Hynoski.
Richard's legacy of kindness and service will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00-6:00pm, Friday, November 7, 2025 at Merritt Funeral Home (2 South Lemon Avenue, Brooksville, FL 34601), where services begin at 4:00pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Saint Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church (20428 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL 34601) on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00am.
