Robert Bruce Johnson

JOHNSON, Robert Bruce, age 71 of Brooksville, Florida, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at his home.  He was born in Canton, Ohio and after meeting his wife in 1987, Bob ran away and joined the carnival in her family’s business.  He spent many years traveling back and forth to Michigan believing that he would be making elephant ears until his hands wouldn’t work anymore. Due to circumstances beyond his control Bob had to shift gears and take disability/ retirement at an early age, but became the primary caregiver for his infant son at the age of 62.  He helped raise both of his children, along with several generations of raccoons that showed up in the backyard to get their cookies. His love for his family was foremost in his thoughts as he called his momma daily until her passing and told his kids “goodnight, daddy loves you” every night whether they could hear him or not.

Bob is survived by his wife of 27 years, Heidi; son:  Robert B. “Bobby” Johnson of Brooksville; daughter:  Breann Johnson (& Anthony Foster) of Brooksville;  father:  William L. Johnson; brother & sister-in-law:  William L. & Linda Johnson of Cartersville, Georgia.

Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  Military honors will be 10:00am, Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.

He will be dearly missed and we loved him a “ bushel and a peck”.
