He was born on August 17, 1946, in Bay City, Michigan, to parents Robert Russell King and Neoma Isabelle King. Butch married Carol Wallezer on January 1, 1966, at the Brooksville Methodist Church in Brooksville, Florida.
Butch’s working life reflected both skill and persistence. He earned his commercial pilot’s license, a testament to his discipline and focus. He also built homes all across the bay area, leaving behind lasting evidence of a man who understood the value of solid foundations. In marine construction, Butch helped build everything from barges to boat ramps—projects that required endurance, practical know-how, and a willingness to take on demanding work with care and pride.
Beyond his work, Butch found meaning in the outdoors. An avid hunter of deer and elk, he especially treasured time spent on hunting trips to his cabin in Colorado, where his days were shaped by patience, preparation, and a deep appreciation for the land.
Butch is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Wallezer King; his brother, Ronald (Karen) King; his sister, Tyna Solomon; two nieces, Donna Sowers and Sara King; two nephews, Billy Wilson and Aaron King; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Wilson.
A visitation gathering will be held at Merritt Funeral Home (2 South Lemon Avenue, Brooksville, FL 34601) on October 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, where the Celebration of Life begins at 11:00 am.
