Ruth J. Nelson

She was born May 8, 1922 in Luther, Oklahoma and came to this area three years ago from Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  She was a humble, selfless and loving person who was a mother and grandmother to so many.  She worked as a church secretary for Adams Boulevard Church of Christ for over 40 years and attended Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Inverness, Florida.  She enjoyed crocheting afghans for family, friends and countless babies, sewing and quilting.  She loved sending cards and considered it her own card ministry. 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Norman B. Nelson.  She is survived by her daughter: Desnee E. Elgin of Brooksville, Florida; grandchildren: Sterling Evans, Lincoln Evans (Valerie), Zane Evans and Reagan Tedrow (Ryan); eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, with Preacher Dave Hammonds officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to

Mount Dora Children's Home or Hope Harbor Children's Academy.
