Sue Carol Grubbs

Sue Carol Romine Grubbs, born October 11,1928, Hansford, WV, to Oneita Pearl Watkins Romine and Anderson Washington Romine, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, FL. Sue married Murray Reid Grubbs on December 5,1948, at First Baptist Church of Brooksville, FL. They were married for 68 years and raised 3 children, David, Julia and Lynda.

Sue’s family moved from WV, when she was 18, to Brooksville, FL. Over the 78 years she lived in Brooksville she actively served at FBC in the choir, singing for weddings and funerals, nursery, Sunday School Department (as teacher and director), Vacation Bible School Director and eventually the Clothes Closet. She led the Keenagers Sunday School Class in song weekly until she moved to Tallahassee when she was 95. Sue loved the community of Brooksville and over a span of 45 years worked at Spencer’s Diner, Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Quality Shop, Lynn’s of Brooksville, was a member of the Junior Service League, bowled and golfed and eventually retired from Grubbs Insurance Agency.

Sue loved her family with all her heart. She is survived by her 3 children: David Grubbs, Julia Reeves(Mark) and Lynda Shackelford(Lorne); 9 grandchildren: Douglas Grubbs, Rebekah Drahosh(Caleb), Aaron Reeves(Katie), Hastings Reeves, Rachel Speckman(Jacob), David Reeves(Nicole), Philip Reeves(Sarah); Landon & Lydia Shackelford; and 23 great grandchildren: Abel, Tevye, Juliette, Olive, Abigail, Saoirse Drahosh; Judah, Zara, Dakota, Cadence, Emory, Quinn Reeves; Claire Reeves; Daniel, Chloe Sue, Walter, Thomas Speckman; Alistair Reeves; Adaline Rose, Malachi, Zion, Theoden, Aaron Reeves; her siblings Donnie, Janet, Robert, Diane & Becky; Claude & Sue Grubbs, Maurice & Diane Grubbs and Dixie Grubbs, as well as many nieces and nephews!

Sue is preceded in death by her beloved Murray, Oneita & Anderson Romine, her siblings Andy, Drucilla, Emory, John, and Myrna, Sidney Romine, Johnny Romine, J.C. & Susie Mae Grubbs, Reginald & Ronald Grubbs, Jeffrey Grubbs and her beautiful niece Virginia Grubbs Jordan.

Sue will always be remembered for her beautiful singing voice, hospitality, fudge, love of playing games and sharing the love of Jesus. She was a disciple of Christ and is now forever in His glorious presence.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church (420 Howell Avenue, Brooksville, FL 34601) on Saturday, September 26 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, where the Celebration of Life promptly begins at 10:45 AM and ends at 12:00 PM. Fellowship hosted by the church will follow the services.
