Violet J. Reid

REID, Violet J., age 94 of Brooksville, died Thur., Sept. 15, 2016 at HPH Hospice Care Center.  Born in Lexington, VA she came here 52 years ago from Buena Vista, VA.  She was a retired educator, teaching at Spring Lake Elementary and Brooksville Elementary Schools, and was librarian at Hernando High School and Brooksville Elementary School.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Brooksville and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and volunteered as a pink lady. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Elwood Reid.  Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law:  Sheila R. & Chester Jones; granddaughter & grandson-in-law:  Virginia & Brent Gaustad; and great granddaughter:  Kristen Jones all of Brooksville; sister-in-law:  Pauline Johnson of Lexington, VA; numerous nieces and nephews and her caregiver: Carol Hughes.

Visitation for friends will be 5 – 7pm, Tues., Sept. 20, 2016 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, where funeral services will begin at 7:00pm.  Interment will be at Rapps Mill Cemetery, Lexington, VA.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Brooksville.
