He was born on October 23, 1940, in Jacksonville, Florida, to William and Mary Repper. He was hard-working, beloved, devoted and inspirational to all who had the privilege of knowing him. After this introduction, William will be remembered as Rep.
Rep was a standout athlete in his early years, serving as the starting point guard for Bishop Kenny’s 1957 State Basketball Championship team—the only state championship the school ever won. He later earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Jacksonville.
Rep served as Military Police in the Army Reserve and built a long and respected professional life as a Trust Officer for over 40 years, a role that reflected his steady character and deep sense of responsibility.
On July 26, 1975, Rep married Mary Kuhns in Alexandria, Virginia.
He is predeceased by his parents; daughter, Sheri Schneider; grandson, Troy Robert Hole; and great-grandson Seth Cruz. He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Mary Repper; sisters, Ginny (Larry) Phipps and Sharon (Jim) Roundtree; son, Dominic (Jennifer) Repper; daughters, Coleen Weaver and Elizabeth (Sean) Hole; grandchildren, Heather, Katie, Chelsi, Ashleigh, Casey, Genevieve, Mary Elizabeth, and Aubrey; and great-grandchildren Gavin, Abby, Hanley, Hannah, Chloe, Levi, and Daisy.
Family was at the center of Rep’s life. He also found joy in fishing and faithfully cheered for the University of Florida Gators. Rep gave generously of his time and energy to the community. He was involved with the Jazz Festival and the Sun and Fun Parade, was President of the Sertoma Club, and was a Board Member of the Tampa Bay Sports Authority. He also dedicated many seasons as a high school football referee in the Tampa Bay Area.
Extremely loved and deeply caring, Rep was known for supporting others and helping anyone who needed it. His life helped form a foundation of love and happiness for his family, and his legacy will continue in the many lives he touched.
