Ada Naomi “Shug” Collins, 80, of Darien, departed this life Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 29, 2015 at 11AM at Darien Church of God with Rev. Tommy Whaley officiating. Interment will follow in McIntosh Family Cemetery with Frank Owens Jr., Bruce Collins Jr., Will Floyd, Jonathan Collins, Marty Collins, and Gary Gault serving as pallbearers.
Born July 10, 1934 in McIntosh County to the late Rufus L. and Clifford Matilda Bennett, she was a former pharmacy Technician with Fred’s in Darien. Mrs. Collins was a lifelong resident of Darien and a member of Darien Church of God. She enjoyed church, gospel music, cooking, and spending time on St. Simons Island at the pier fishing and crabbing. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, James Benjamin Collins, Jr, and her mother and father in law, William Riley and Alice Mosley Collins, two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, James B. Collins of Darien, two sons, Bruce Collins and wife Jenny of Brunswick, Max Collins and wife Sherri of Darien, a daughter, Matilda Floyd and husband Alvin of Shellman Bluff, six grandchildren, Frank Owens, Jr., Bruce Collins, Jr., Krystle Cox, Will Floyd, Jonathan Collins, and Macey Floyd, several nieces and nephews, two sisters, Bernice Gibbs of Eugene, OR, and Virginia Bassford of Payette, ID, and a brother, David Bennett of Tacoma, WA.
