Born July 29, 1948, in DeLand, Florida to the late Aubrey (Joe) and the late Clara Mae Eunice Lane, he served in the United States Army for 13 years and served in Vietnam where he earned several medals. He met and fell in love with his wife, Mary Jo while at Fort Stewart and then moved to Townsend, Georgia; where he had been a resident of Townsend, Georgia for the past 32 years.
Mr. Lane worked for the public works department in Glynn County for many years. He had a passion for drawing and was very talented. He was a big Atlanta Braves fan and he loved caring for his animals. Most of all, he loved his family and God with his whole heart.
In addition to Mr. Lane's parents he is preceded in death by his mother in-law; Cecil Cox Poppell.
Albert is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Mary Jo Poppell Lane; two daughters: Mary Frances “Franny” Rowe and Pam Gore (Lamar); 4 Grandchildren: John Allen II, Shannon Richardson(Tad), Jack Gore III(Haley) and George Gore; 5 Great-Grandchildren, Austin Richardson, Addison Richardson, Andrew Richardson, Aspen Gore and Jack Gore IV; and one sister, Karen Lane.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave., in Brunswick, with Reverend Tommy Whaley officiating. Family will receive friends following the service in the Brunswick Room.
