Alene Roberts O'Brien

Ophelia Alene Roberts O’Brien, 71, of St. Simons Island, died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Monday, February 8, 2010 at St. William Catholic Church with Monsignor John E.A. Kenneally officiating. Entombment will follow at Oglethorpe Cemetery.Born April 1, 1938 in Atkinson County Georgia to the late Samuel Roberts Sr. and Lula Parrish Roberts, Mrs. O’Brien was a homemaker raising three children. She had been a resident of Glynn County for over 50 years and was a member of St. William Catholic Church on St. Simons Island. She enjoyed travel and her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Francis “Frank” O’Brien, and a son, Francis Daniel O’Brien.Survivors include two sons, Michael Shawn O’Brien and wife Brenda of St. Simons Island, James Joel O’Brien of Brunswick, six grandchildren, Sara Wood, Kenny Verne, Tommy O’Brien, Joey O’Brien, Barbara Reed and Sharon Reed, four great grandchildren, Chelsey Smith, Daniell Woods, Abigail Woods and Ashley Ray Roland, three sisters, Doris Taylor of Douglas, Katherine Metzell and Joan Adams both of Blue Ridge, GA.The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4:00PM until 6:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. www.edomillerandsons.com
