Allan James Ledingham (Al), 91 years young, of St. Simons Island, GA passed away peacefully on October 23, 2021. Al is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, of 72 years and his two daughters, Lorene Ledingham Reid (Bob), and Susan Marie Ledingham, sister Christine Ledingham Allen (Steve) and family, five grandchildren Amy Gordon (Danny) and family, Ryan Bundo and family, Katie Raboin and family, Sarah Jacobs and family, Rachel Tedesco and family, Mason Reid and Graham Reid and family. Al enjoyed his grandchildren and eight great grandchildren very much. Al is predeceased by his mother Margarite Langlois Ledingham, father Roy James Ledingham, brother Donald Bruce Ledingham, and son James Ralph Ledingham.
Al graduated from Hartford University with a degree in Accounting and continued to get the CLU and ChFC insurance designations. He put this degree to good use in the Insurance Industry in Internal Auditing for many years at Aetna Life Insurance Company, then Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company. After retiring he volunteered his accounting skills giving back to his community; serving as Treasurer of St. Simons Presbyterian Church for 22 years; as Life Member of The Island Players for his service as President, Treasurer, building sets, performing in plays, etc., and on several boards of directors for many years. As a result of his Service Above Self in all he did, Al was proud to receive the Rotary Paul Harris Fellow designation.
His love of singing graced many in our area, from the choir at St. Simons Presbyterian Church to the A Capella group and his beloved Community Messiah. His kindness and smiles blessed many throughout his life.
A celebration of Al's life will be held at St. Simons Presbyterian Church at 11:30 am Wednesday, October 27, 2021, 205 Kings Way, St Simons Island, GA 31522.
