

Alton J. Moore, 86, of Brunswick, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at SGHS Brunswick Campus. Memorial services with Full Military Honors will be held at 11AM Thursday, October 20, 2011 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Peter Vivenzio and Rev. Tommy McMillan officiating.
Born July 20, 1925 in Glynn County, Georgia to the late Frank L. and Mae S. Moore, he was retired from the U.S. Army, having served in Korea, Europe, and Vietnam. He was the recipient of The Bronze Star and Purple Heart as well as numerous other medals he earned in his military career. Mr. Moore also retired from Hercules. He was a member of VFW Post 1511 and American Legion Post 9. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brunswick. Mr. Moore lived life to the fullest, he enjoyed music and dancing, travel, and sharing his experiences in the military as well as growing up in Brunswick with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Marie C. Moore of Brunswick, a son, Leslie G. Moore and wife Fran of Snellville, GA, two grandsons, Andrew Moore and Scott Moore, three great grandchildren, three step daughters, Sheila Adkins of Cape Coral, FL, Debbie Gallman of North Ft. Myers, FL, and Lori Thorne of Concord, NC, two step granddaughters, Kimberly Carver and Michelle Lawrence, two sisters, Vera Gallow of Brunswick and Grace Moore of Unadilla, GA, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 10AM until the funeral hour at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society or The American Lung Association. www.edomillerandsons.com
